Hidden among the majestic peaks of the Swiss Pre-Alps, the Alpine Hut on Monte Gambarogno stands as an icon of resilience and transformation. Built in the early 1900s as a military barracks, this structure has seen the passage of time and change to become a welcoming hut open to the public.
August 1 brunch in the Hut
For the Swiss National Day we propose the August 1 Brunch in the Capanna. From 10 to 11:30 a.m. breakfast buffet, from 12 to 2 p.m. lunch buffet. Limited places (50), reservation only at 079 251 32 49 or booking@capannagambarogno.ch.
Hut opening
Here we go. The Capanna Gambarogno opened its doors on July 20, 2024. Due to technical, logistical and testing issues of the Hut, it will only be open 4 days a week, Thursday through Sunday, for this season.
Capanna
The Capanna Gambarogno is located just a 45-minute walk from Alpe di Neggia, accessible by car from Vira Gambarogno. This strategic location makes it easily accessible, and its proximity to many tourist attractions makes it an ideal starting point for exploring the surrounding region.
Food
Almost all of the hut's products are purchased in the region, fresh and otherwise, and used to create our traditional Ticino cuisine. We work directly with mountain dwellers, butchers, winemakers, bakers, and various locals to create a restaurant that provides a gastronomic experience and supports the local community.
Association
Founded in 2016 thanks to the will of a group of friends, the Amis dala Capanna Gambarögn association has enabled the search for the funds needed to renovate and enhance the Gambarogno Hut.
